Penguin Computing Named Open Compute Project Solution Provider

Penguin Computing, experts in high performance and enterprise computing solutions, today announced that it has been named an Open Compute Project (OCP) Solution Provider . Effective immediately Penguin is delivering fully integrated, scalable OCP solutions that are built-to-order to meet the requirements of mid and large scale data centers. Penguin’s OCP solutions will be based on the latest OCP designs that have been engineered for maximum power efficiency, serviceability and cost efficiency. As an active member of the OCP community Penguin has also contributed a design proposal for power measurement capabilities at the subsystem level that will enable further power efficiency improvements. “Penguin Computing has been delivering open source based solutions to customers in the Enterprise, HPC and Financial Service markets for 15 years,” said Charles Wuischpard, CEO Penguin Computing. “We understand how open solutions fuel innovation to the benefit of our customers. It is only logical for Penguin to embrace the concept of open hardware designs. We believe that the impact of OCP on the hardware industry will have a lasting effect just as open source software changed the landscape of the software industry for good.” All of Penguin’s OCP solutions are compatible with the dense and power efficient Open Rack specification. An example is the new Penguin Relion OCP2830, an implementation of OCP’s ‘Windmill’ design that accommodates three servers in a 2U chassis. In addition Penguin offers systems that support Open Rack and traditional 19’’ racks such as the Altus OCP line based on AMD’s Open 3.0 reference design. Penguin Computing will be sponsoring and participating in the OCP Engineering summit on May 16 at the MIT in Cambridge, Mass. For more information, please visit www.penguincomputing.com.
