The PCIE-8130 from Penguin Solutions™ is a PCI Express (PCIe) add-in card that offers high performance audio transcoding based on digital signal processing (DSP) technology. It can accelerate audio transcoding in a rack mount server or any appliance with a standard PCIe slot. Offloading audio transcode functionality from the main CPU(s) reduces both CapEx and OpEx by limiting the number of servers that need to be deployed. The Penguin Edge™ PCIE-8130 features up to 12 Octasic OCT3032 DSPs with Vocallo firmware, a sophisticated network-proven software framework, which offers a rich set of codec transcoding functions through a simple API. Transcode, signaling and call management functionality are all built-in and future codec developments can be implemented on the same hardware with software updates.
